Don't Skip These Steps

Do step 1-4 away from cats sight -- Be ready to give dose fast without anticipation. Entice with treats, catnip, and toys before the dose to establish trust in the unexpected routine.

Confirm the intake baseline

Before treatment begins, upload available vet lab work and log your cat's current weight and symptoms in the Treatment Dashboard. Send clear symptom videos in your WhatsApp treatment chat so advisors can set the starting baseline and track progress.

Store and gather

Store vials, tablets, or suspension exactly as the label directs. Keep injectable medication in a dark cabinet—never the refrigerator or direct light. Gather assigned supplies; a soft cone, top-loading carrier, towel wrap, and second person can make treatment easier.

Check the verified plan

After advisors review the current weight and symptoms, check the Treatment Dashboard for the medication and exact dose.

Prepare the first treatment

For all care information and guidance, visit the helpful and below. Follow the label and advisor's method for tablets or suspension, and verify the current dose in the Treatment Dashboard.

Administer the Dose

Give the recommended dose and record the location (if injectable), as you will rotate sites each day. Follow the label, Treatment Dashboard, and your advisor's instructions.

Rotate within the approved areas and remain at least two finger-widths from the spine.

1Choose and prepare the site

Rotate within the approved areas and remain at least two finger-widths from the spine.

  • Use one of the shaved side areas shown in the diagram.
  • Avoid the spine, scruff/neck area, and low back near the tail.
  • Alternate sides and move the site each day to reduce irritation.
  • Have a treat or distraction ready before you begin.
2Draw the assigned dose

Measure from the top edge of the black plunger stopper and keep the needle bevel facing upward.

  • Check the Treatment Dashboard for the current dose every time.
  • Inject air into the vial before drawing the medication.
  • Use the top of the black plunger stopper as the measurement line.
  • Keep the vial upright, clean, protected from bright light, and undiluted.
3Give the injection

Lift a firm skin tent, aim for the open space at its base, and insert bevel-up at approximately 45 degrees.

  • Lift a firm skin tent and aim for the open space at its base.
  • Keep the needle bevel facing upward at approximately a 45° angle.
  • Insert quickly and confidently without exiting the other side.
  • Deliver the medication steadily, then remove the needle.
4Finish and record

Injectable GS-441524 can provide reliable early absorption, especially for critically ill cats or cats unable to absorb oral medication reliably.

  • Pinch the skin briefly after removing the needle to limit leakage.
  • Reward your cat and note the time, dose, and site used.
  • If medication leaks, do not automatically give more. Photograph or estimate the loss and ask your advisor what to do.
  • Report severe pain, open sores, swelling, or repeated leakage.

Make comfort part of the routine

Treat before and after. A helper can offer a squeeze-treat while you inject. Ask your veterinarian whether prescribed gabapentin should be given two to three hours beforehand.

Rotate, even when one spot feels easiest

Spreading injections across the approved zones can reduce soreness, irritation, and skin damage over the treatment course.
